1. Who we are
Puente is a real-time AI voice translation application developed and operated in Houston, Texas, USA. By downloading, installing, or using the Puente app or visiting puente.chat, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the app or website.
2. The service
Puente provides real-time voice translation between human languages. The service includes:
- The Puente iOS app (and future Android app)
- The puente.chat website
- All features described therein, including Free tier, Pro, Day Pass, Profession Packs, and organization plans
Puente is a tool to assist communication. It is not a certified medical interpreter, legal interpreter, or emergency communication service. Do not rely solely on Puente for life-safety, medical diagnosis, legal advice, or emergency services.
3. Accounts and access
Puente does not require an account, email address, or login to use. The Free tier is available to anyone who downloads the app. Pro and other paid features are unlocked via in-app purchase and do not require account creation.
Organization plans may require an activation code distributed by your organization administrator. Use of an organization code is subject to your organization's own policies in addition to these Terms.
4. Payments and pricing
- Free tier: 5 translations per day at no cost. No credit card required.
- Emergency Pass ($0.99): One-time, single session. Non-refundable after use.
- Day Pass ($1.99): 24 hours of full access from time of purchase. Non-refundable after the 24-hour window begins.
- Profession Packs ($2.99 each): One-time purchase. Permanent unlock on the purchasing device.
- Pro ($9.99): One-time lifetime purchase. No subscription, no recurring fees. Includes all languages, all modes, and all future feature updates at no additional charge.
- Clinic / Small Org: $49/month or $499/year, billed as described at purchase.
- Enterprise: $149/month or $1,499/year, billed as described at purchase.
All purchases are processed through Apple's App Store or our payment processor. Refunds are governed by Apple's refund policy for App Store purchases. For direct purchases, contact support@puente.chat within 14 days of purchase.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Puente to:
- Translate, transmit, or facilitate content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, or violates any applicable law
- Impersonate any person or entity
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of the app
- Use automated scripts, bots, or tools to interact with the app in ways not intended by its design
- Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to Puente without written authorization
6. Accuracy and limitations
Puente uses AI-powered voice recognition and machine translation. While we work to deliver high-quality, accurate translations, AI translation is not perfect. Translation quality varies by language pair, audio quality, background noise, accent, and speaking speed.
Puente makes no warranty that translations are accurate, complete, or suitable for any specific purpose. For legally binding documents, medical decisions, or critical communications, always use a certified human interpreter.
7. Privacy
Your privacy is central to how Puente is designed. No audio is stored on our servers. No account is required. No data is sold. On-device Whisper AI handles the 8 offline languages entirely on your phone — nothing leaves the device.

8. Intellectual property
The Puente name, logo, app design, and all associated content are the property of Puente and its licensors. These Terms do not grant you any right to use the Puente name or brand assets except as provided in our Press & Media guidelines for editorial use.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
Puente is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Puente and its team shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, revenue, or profits — arising from your use of the app. Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid to Puente in the 12 months preceding the claim.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Puente after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. For material changes, we'll make reasonable efforts to notify users via the app or website.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Harris County, Texas, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
